PITTSFIELD – April 24, 2015 – Qualprint has received nine Awards of Excellence from Printing Industries of New England (PINE), a regional trade association with over 125 years of service and experience with the Graphic Communications industry – and the local affiliation of Printing Industries of America (PIA). Of these nine awards, seven were recognized with a Pinnacle Award (Best of Category) for printed pieces for the following Qualprint customers: Maserati North America; Korn Ferry International; Nickel & Nickel Winery; mcgarrybowen; Pine Cone Hill; Werner Pheiffer; and Qualprint’s very own 2015 A Closer Look at the Berkshires Calendar. Second place Awards of Excellence were awarded to Qualprint for two pieces of work printed for Berkshire Bank, and Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
A panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the wide range of work submitted. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery. PINE’s Awards of Excellence Competition attracted over 200 entries from 41 printing and imaging companies across New England, competing in a variety of printing and graphic communications categories.
The seven Pinnacle Award winners will automatically be submitted to PIA’s 2015 National Premier Print Awards. PIA is the largest graphic arts trade association, dedicated to the advancement of the graphic communications industry worldwide. PIA represents approximately one million employees in the printing industry, and serves the interests of thousands of member companies through advocacy, education, research, technical information, and cost-saving resources.
In addition to these prestigious awards recognizing Qualprint for the work they have accomplished for their customers, Qualprint also received a Gold first place award in the “Best Printing” category of the Calendar Marketing Association (CMA)’s 2015 National Calendar Awards for their 2015 A Closer Look at the Berkshires Calendar. The CMA is the only worldwide trade association for the calendar industry. It was founded over 25 years ago to represent the interests of designers, marketers, publishers, printers and suppliers of both retail and custom calendars.
